School Lantern Procession
Every year one of the highlights of the event is the procession of lanterns. The lanterns are made and decorated by the children themselves with the support of their schools. Over 400 children and their parents join the parade.
This year, we are
In normal years, the parade starts from outside Davenies School in Station Road and follows the main road through the town, over the railway bridge to the Council Green.
The parade normally includes Santa on his sleigh, a fire engine (subject to availability), brass bands and local dignitaries.
2020 will allow you to enjoy the parade online, with lots of opportunities to be involved on the night.
Prizes for Best Lanterns
The lanterns are decorated by the children. Their creativity is amazing and this year prizes will be awarded for the best lantern from each school.
Announcement of the winners will happen towards the end of our event.

Carols On The Green
At the end of our parade, carol singing will be led by Reverend Jeremy Brooks of St Mary & All Saints Church, recorded in St Mary's Church supported by St Mary's Choir.
