School Lantern Procession
Every year one of the highlights of the event is the procession of lanterns. The lanterns are made and decorated by the children themselves with the support of their schools. Over 400 children and their parents join the parade.
The parade starts from outside Davenies School in Station Road and follows the main road through the town, over the railway bridge to the Council Green.
The parade normally includes Santa on his sleigh, a fire engine (subject to availability), brass bands and local dignitaries.
Prizes for Best Lanterns
The lanterns are decorated by the children. Their creativity is amazing and this year prizes will be awarded for the best lantern from each school.
The awards will happen at the end of the procession.
Leading The Procession
The procession will be led by the Beaconsfield Town Mayor followed by Santa and his reindeer.
The procession leaders will be joined by Egham Pipe Band and representatives of Year 6 local schools that are taking part.
The theme for 2020 will be announced during 2020.
